04.03.2016  09:26
Thursday 3 March the four Nordic diplomatic representations in Myanmar opened the doors for an open house in the new Nordic chancellery which houses Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

True to the Nordic spirit the event was very informal. The focus was on Nordic values and on providing an opportunity for Nordic and Nordic-supported NGO’s as well as Nordic companies to present their work and achievements. Thus the around of 400 guests could enjoy Carlsberg, Tuborg and Yoma beer, cheese and snack samples from Arla along with fresh Norwegian salmon, while also being able to attend guided tours of the new modern office.

Yangon Bakehouse, a social enterprise which works to give women from troubled backgrounds better opportunities provided the catering. Along the same lines, the musical entertainment was delivered in cooperation with Turning Tables Myanmar, which aims to promote social development through music. The entertainment included performances by the female hip-hop duo Y.A.K, whose messages on women’s rights reached a broader audience than usual.

The shared Nordic chancellery in Yangon, which has 50 employees and opened in October last year is to most extensive shared embassy project Denmark is involved in.
