RE: Stories in the Global New Light of Myanmar on two vessels handed over by Denmark to the Fisheries Department. 

The Embassy informs:
“The ownership of the two fishery inspection vessels was handed over to the Department of Fisheries in July 2020. This was part of the Sustainable Coastal Fisheries programme, which was one of the strategic focus areas in the Denmark-Myanmar Country Programme 2016-2020. The Embassy of Denmark has not participated in an official handover event of the two fishery inspection vessels.”  

The previous Head of Mission, Ambassador John Nielsen, visited the fishing communities in Dawei in the first week of November 2018. You can read about the visit on the Embassy’s Facebook.
