Denmark supports UNICEF in Myanmar

Denmark has contributed US$ 1.2 million to the 2016 UNICEF humanitarian action call for children

"Thousands of children are affected by the ongoing conflicts in Kachin and Northern Shan and by the inter-communal challenges in Rakhine" said Peter Lysholt Hansen, Denmark’s Ambassador to Myanmar. “Through this contribution to UNICEF, Denmark helps to meet the immediate lifesaving needs of children while we continue to support political solutions and development."

The 2016 UNICEF humanitarian action call is mobilises support to children in Myanmar affected by conflict, inter-communal violence and displacement in Myanmar. The programme aims to protect more than 200,000 children in Myanmar against diseases and malnutrition, provide them with education, necessary water, sanitation, and hygiene and improve their coping mechanisms.
