Sundhed

Siden 2009 har Danmark støttet forbedringer i sundhedssektoren i Myanmar gennem Three Millennium Development Goal Fund. Støtten udfases i 2017, hvor den danske indsats overgår til fokus på gennemførelsen af landeprogrammet for Myanmar i 2016-2020.

With low public health expenditure, approximately only 0.02% of GDP in 2010 - 2012, the Myanmar health sector relies heavily on support from international donors. Denmark has supported Myanmar’s health sector since 2009 – 2012 with the aim of reducing the prevalence of malaria, tuberculosis and hiv/aids in the country.

Since 2011, support has been provided through the Three Millennium Development Goal Fund (3MDG) in 2012 which aims to improve access to basic health care for women and children through a rights based approach.

Denmark has so far contributed in total DKK 55 million to 3MDG. Danish support to 3MDG will be phased out at the end of 2017 as we concentrate on implementing the Denmark-Myanmar Country Programme 2016-2020.
