Levevilkår

Danmark støtter via multi-donor trustfonden LIFT fremme af bæredygtige levevilkår og fødevareforsyningssikkerhed i Myanmar.

LIFT is a multi-donor fund operating in Myanmar since 2010 to improve the lives and prospects of smallholder farmers and landless people in rural Myanmar. LIFT is working to ensure that Myanmar’s rural economic transformation is inclusive.

Activities are focused on raising incomes, providing access to credit and markets, improving nutrition, bolstering people's ability to cope with shocks and setbacks, and providing evidence to inform the development of policies, which consider rural poor people.

In 2016, LIFT worked in 222 townships across Myanmar, more than double the townships compared to at the end of 2015. Roughly 20 per cent of the country’s rural population is receiving support from LIFT which has been able to expand to the previously conflict-affected areas of Kayin and Kayah States and Tanintharyi Region. New projects have also been launched in Rathedaung and Maungdaw, both in northern Rakhine.

Danish support to LIFT will be phased out when the current grant expires as Denmark is concentrating its efforts on the three focus areas of the Denmark-Myanmar Country Programme; peace, rule of law and human rights, sustainable economic growth and basic education.
